About the Title:
After I finished college, I began touring the United States
alone, long stretches, from Dallas to Canada, through the
west, midwest and east coast. I wrote many of these songs
during that time and thought it was best to record them
alone to reflect those solo road trips. The Noise I Make
comes from a line in the song Singing to the Cakes, in which
I am playing a fruitless gig at a coffeehouse, where I am
set-up facing the pastries, not the people. The line goes,
“No one hears a noise that I make, so I guess I’ll
just sing to the cakes.” But extracted from the song,
it seemed to be the right title for a solo album.
Word from the press:
“Kristy is one of Dallas’ best.”
–Acoustic Musicians Network, Dallas, Texas
“An artist with a sense of humor and obvious talent.”
–Buddy Magazine, Dallas, Texas
“On The Noise I Make, this folk-rock singer/songwriter
carefully uses her lyrics to capture snapshots of her everyday
observations and experiences. With her jazzy nuances, it’s
unfair to compare her to other female folk stars.”
-The Metro, The Silicon Valley’s Weekly Newspaper,
San Jose, California
Words from the People:
“The Noise I Make is a fascinating collection of deeply
introspective folk tunes, underscored by Kristy's eclectic
musical influences: rock, pop, county, jazz and blues. I
think that with only one exception, she plays all the instruments
on this CD. But what really stands out is the sheer quality
of her songwriting--the fascinating "experiences"
she shares in her stories. These songs are meticulously
crafted, yet still "real" and honest. This CD
will hit you like a breath of fresh air, leaving you in
awe of her growing talent and rising star.”
-Kevin Walters, Dallas, Texas
“The lyrics and stories that are put to music in
The Noise I Make are very personal yet, are situations we
can all relate to. The variety of instrumentation and voice
fluctuation is elegant, sassy, and beautifully done! The
Noise I Make is a must have!”
-Alicia Johnson, St. Paul, Minnesota
“This girl has got it all. I cannot put this CD in
without listening to it all the way through. The first two
tracks (Minimum Wage and Better Off Dead) remind me of a
young Ani Difranco, whereas some of the later tracks have
beautiful piano arrangements that remind me of Kate Bush,
or Tori Amos. But Kristy is still a sound of her own. You
MUST give this CD a listen!!”
-Sarah Hardy, Lake Mary, Florida
“I bought this album because this girl was driving
around in her car alone, playing music and I felt sorry
for her, and when I listened to it, it changed my life.”
-Zac Tison, Nashville, Tennessee
