MEMORIAL CONCERT IN LOVING MEMORY OF STAFF SGT. JOSEPH GAGE, 28

Modesto, CA 95354

I cannot express what a meaningful evening this will be for me. This is my first time to perform a memorial concert in remembrance of another soldier. Staff Sgt. Joseph Gage of Modesto, California was in the humvee with my brother when they were both killed, along with Lt. Col. Paul Finken of Earling, Iowa. I reached out to the Gage's and offered to perform a memorial concert in Joseph's memory. I wanted to meet the family of the man my brother died with. I am so grateful that they are open to the experience. I very much look forward to meeting the Gage's and to learning about Joseph. If you have friends or family in Modesto, please share this information. Tresetti's features fine world fare (dishes, cuisine) in a casual, relaxing atmosphere, and a wonderful wine selection. Please come early if you would like to dine. The music will be in a separate banquet room. I will be donating half of the profits of this show to the Gage's. I thank Joseph and his family for their sacrifice. My heart is with them.

There is NO COVER, but donations are welcome and greatly appreciated.

About Staff Sgt. Joseph Gage:

Age: 28
Hometown: Modesto, CA
Date of Death: 11/2/2006
Incident Location: Baghdad
Branch of Military: Army
Rank: Staff Sgt.
Unit: assigned to the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat
Unit's Base: Fort Campbell, Ky.

Gage, 28, of Modesto, Calif., was killed Nov. 2 in Baghdad by a roadside bomb. He was assigned to Fort Campbell and was on his second tour. Gage enjoyed playing drums in the high school band and worked hard to earn his GED before enlisting. He recently signed up for 12 more years in the Army. His first deployment to Iraq was in 2003. On her husband's MySpace.com, wife Samantha wrote: "Though all of our hearts are heavy with pain, the thing I want everyone to remember is his laughter. Whatever my mood was he could always make me laugh. So if you need to cry then cry, but please please laugh afterwards." He also is survived by a 6-year-old son, Michael.

LTC Eric J KrugerKristy performs on the one year anniversary of her brother Lt. Col. Eric Kruger's death in Iraq. It also happens to be "Dia de los Muertos" (Day of the Dead), a day to celebrate the dead. Seeing as her brother was an avid fan of live music who always loved a good party, and that he died on a day of celebration of the dead, Kristy decided to put together this special evening in remembrance of her brother and all fallen soldiers from the DFW area.

There will be several other bands on the bill, including Hard Night's Day, a Dallas mainstay. Hard Night's Day is an excellent Beatles cover band, so there will most definitely be some tunes you can sing along to. These guys do a fantastic job at playing all the favorites. Please mark your calendars now. Ticket prices and more bands to be announced soon. Donations to the Fisher House and TAPS, the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, will be accepted at the show. TAPS provides a wealth of resources for families who have lost loved ones in the armed forces. Kristy receives free bereavement counseling through TAPS and is grateful for the community TAPS provides. The Fisher House is a wonderful organization that cares for our wounded Veterans and their families.

From Kristy:
I made a promise to my brother at his funeral. Many promises...one of which was that there were four days I would perform for the rest of my life. Four days for which there would be no excuses...Memorial Day, Veterans Day, his birthday, and his death day. It held true, even November 11th, Veterans Day 2006, nine days after he was killed, when I performed in Genessee, New York, and it holds true this year as well. This show will also be in remembrance of SSG Joseph Gage of Modesto, California, and Lt. Col. Paul Finken of Earling, Iowa, the soldiers that were killed with my brother. Please join us in remembering our fallen soldiers this coming November 2nd. Hooah bro...I miss and love you sooooooo much...

A word from Kristy:
Hey friends...My sweet dog Mojo was involved in a terrible accident that left him with a complicated fracture. At this point, he has been taken to three vets who have all given me the same diagnosis...my only option is surgery. Without surgery, he will have no use of the leg or if I wait, clotting will develop around the bones, in which case, amputation will be necessary. My estimate of the surgery is up to $4,000, a figure that I, as a musician, simply cannot afford. I know that many of us have great financial woes...many that transcend the quality of life of a little pup, but for those of you that are in a financial position to contribute any amount whatsoever, I would be so grateful for your support. All donations go towards Mojo's surgery

Opening Bell is the best coffeehouse in Dallas, serving up coffee specialty drinks, beer, wine, sandwiches, soups, pastries, and desserts. Opening Bell is non-smoking and all ages. Please join us.
